Code of Conduct

Code Of Conduct

The Code of Conduct delineates the expectations for behaviour for all St. Theresa Catholic School students. These guidelines are expected to be followed at all times during the school day or while representing the school on any school sponsored excursion, including overnight trips.

Respect for Catholic Faith Community

Respect for:

∙ spiritual life and religious education programs of the school
∙ sacraments and liturgical practices and experiences
∙ sanctity and dignity of each person as a unique creation of God
∙ life, and for oneself

Acceptance of the Catholic context of the school is a requirement for admission to the St. Theresa community.

All members of the school community are made in the image of God.

Respect for Civility and Responsible Citizenship

All members of the school community must:

∙ conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the beliefs and practices of the Catholic Faith;
∙ show respect and comply with all applicable federal and provincial acts and regulations and municipal by-law
∙ demonstrate honesty and integrity
∙ show respect for differences in people, their ideas and opinions
∙ treat one another with dignity and respect at all times, and especially when there is disagreement
∙ show respect and treat others fairly, regardless of their race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability
∙ show respect for the rights of others
∙ show proper care and regard for school property and the property of others
∙ to use non-violent means to resolve conflict
∙ take appropriate measures to help those in need
∙ show respect for persons who are in a position of authority
∙ show respect for the needs of other to work in an environment of learning and teaching
∙ comply with standards regarding appropriate dress as required

Respect for Learning

Members of our community are expected to use their gifts and talents and show pride in their work and their place within the community.

Students will:

∙ be regular and punctual in attendance
∙ be prepared for, and participate attentively in class
∙ complete assignments on time
∙ seek help when encountering difficulties
∙ take appropriate measures to make up missed work
∙ investigate appropriate preparation for potential career paths
∙ be honest in achieving academic expectations (e.g. avoidance of plagiarism, cheating etc.)
∙ use information technology respectfully and appropriately
∙ use their free time responsibly and appropriately
∙ use cell phones, pagers, electronic devices) appropriately and respectfully
∙ handle medication according to school policy
∙ participate with honour and integrity in school-sponsored events and activities on and off school property
∙ ride the school transportation safely and courteously

Respect for Property and the Environment

All members of our school community are expected to:

∙ keep all areas and grounds of the school clean and free from litter
∙ prevent damage or vandalism of the facility or its equipment and furnishings
∙ respect the personal property of others
∙ recycle and re-use materials as much as possible
∙ help to clean up when required
