School Profile

General

St.Theresa Catholic Secondary School is a Roman Catholic Secondary School located in Belleville, Ontario. It operates under the direction of the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board. The school is named after the patron Saint, St. Theresa (1873-1897). St. Theresa C.S.S. is a uniform school.

Academics

All students who attend St. Theresa Catholic Secondary School are taught under the Ontario Secondary Curriculum. St. Theresa is proud to have the highest percentage of students, at or exceeding the provincial standards in both Grade 9 EQAO testing results and OSSLT (Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test) results.

St. Theresa C.S.S. is proud to be a part of the Ontario Secondary School “Student Success” program which offers students additional co-op oppourtunites, specialist-high skills major programs and dual-credit programs to prepare students for both workplace and post-secondary placements. All of St. Theresa programs offer experiential learning, career exploration and reach ahead activities within various sectors, as well as offer certifications and training programs/courses putting our students first.

Facilities and Athletics

St.Theresa C.S.S. is equipped with a wide range of athletic facilities. Because of the school’s close proximity to the Yardmen Arena, students use their facilites for Hockey Skills Academy clourses. Because of the growing student population a new wing was built, housing a new art studio, office and life skills room. The wing was officially opened during the 2005 school year.

St. Theresa C.S.S. also has an off campus Tech building on the grounds of The Sir James Whitney School. Mechanics, cosmetology and Co-op programs are taught in the building, as well as off campus facilites are used to house various other enrichment events.

Special Events

Every year the Renaissance Society of St. Theresa holds a conference, celebrating a unique element of Canadian Culture. These conferences have been acclaimed for hosting famous guest speakers such as author Frances Itani, Ministers of Government and other distinguished guests.

Extracirricular Activites

There are many clubs and organizations within the school community. There are four main groups which keep events running for the student body. These four groups are known as “The Four Pillars” they include: ICE (Intramural Council Executive), JEDI (Social Justice Group), Student Council (formally S-Unit) and Broadcast.

Other than the four main groups there are many other organizations and clubs such as: Band, Choir, Dance Team (Jr. & Sr.), Drama Club, Green Team, Habitat For Humanity, Reach For The Top, R.I.C.K. (Book Club), Ski Team, Travel Club, Titanium (School Newspaper), Board Game Society, Renaissance Historical Society and Yearbook.
